OST BLOCK started as a bit of irony & grew into our way of showing a different side of Slovakia.

When we opened our first café on Blumentálska in Bratislava, just before the world pandemic began, we were three young people with a clear feeling: Slovakia was still carrying the historical stigma of the former regime, and in many places abroad, it was still seen through the lens of the so-called “Eastern Bloc.”

We wanted to change that.

Through our mindset, our products, our service, and our respectful approach to diversity, we set out to create a place that reflects the progressive, open-minded, and creative side of Slovakia.

From the beginning

We’ve also been a space for creativity, giving artists, makers, musicians, and creatives of all kinds room to host their events, share their work, and bring people together in our cafés.

OST BLOCK is a creative playground we wanted to share with all the open-minded cool kids in the area. It is, and always will be, a safe space for them.

In 2026, OST BLOCK entered a new era: Our own roastery.

After years of serving coffee in our cafés, we wanted to get closer to the source- to understand the beans, the process, the flavour, and the decisions behind every cup. Roasting our own coffee gives us more freedom to choose what we believe in and to share coffees that carry the same energy as our spaces: thoughtful, open, curious, and a little bit rebellious.

With OST BLOCK roastery, we are bringing our taste and values from Bratislava to open-minded people around the world.
